Matt is an elite level distance runner and has been training with me for 2 years now.

 

Matt came to me wanting to incorporate some strength work into his running routine to improve his performance and also to help make him a more resilient athlete. Distance runners tend to pick up many injuries, particularly over use injuries such as tendinopathies and stress fractures, and time on the sidelines is what prevents distance runners from accumulating enough training to really reach their potential.

 

Matt has had phenomenal results and improvements in the time that he has been training with me. He has improved his 1500, 5k and 10k PBs dramatically and has had no injuries throughout the 2 years, which i believe has been one of the major contributing factors to his success. Matt is committed and consistent, he rarely misses a session in the gym, even after he has already done 20-30km long runs.

 

Matt has had many phenomenal performances and victories, including being crowned state champion for 5km two years running. However, perhaps his best result was achieved when Matt recently competed in Australia’s premier distance running event the Zatopek Classic in Melbourne. In a field of Australia’s best 10km runners, including Olympians, Matt placed 10th and ran a 33 second personal best. Matt finished in a time of 29:16, and to put that in perspective, that is 2 minutes 58 per KM or about 21km an hour on the treadmill for 29 minutes straight. Unbelievable. It is a pleasure to train Matt, to help him achieve his goals and to be part of the journey. Well done!
